BUFFALO — A pair of former Batavia basketball standouts — Jeff Redband and Taira Filbert — are now both starring on their respective Daemen College basketball teams.
Filbert, a redshirt junior, is leading the Wildcats women’s team with 14.7 points per game, to go with five rebounds and three assists per night.
Filbert is shooting 47 percent from the field and 76 percent from the line.
The all-time leading scorer for the Blue Devils, Filbert was second-team All-ECC last season, while this season she scored a career-high 38 points in a win over Nova Southeastern.
Earlier this month Filbert had 28 points in a win over Bridgeport and Daemen is now 13-3 overall.
The Daemen women are 13-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Redband, a redshirt senior who reached the 1,000-point plateau last season, is averaging 12 points and 3.7 rebounds per game this season, while he is shooting 42 percent from the field overall, as well as from the 3-point arc. Of his 172 total shots this season.
