After spending time at two junior colleges, former Aliquippa star Chucky Humphries has settled in at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Chucky Humphries’ college experience may have been filled with twists and turns, but he couldn’t be happier with life as a student athlete since arriving at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

As a 22-year-old senior, he’s a starting forward for the nationally-ranked Crimson Hawks. He’s finally found a home after so much uncertainty since graduating from Aliquippa High School.

“It been crazy,” Humphries said of his journey that eventually led him to IUP. “I did bounce around a little bit. But I guess it was all for a good purpose.”

In the winter of 2016, after leading Aliquippa to a perfect 30-0 record with WPIAL and state 2A championships, Humphries had already committed to West Liberty University.

It seemed the perfect fit for the 6-foot-6 forward who was the Beaver County Times’ Boys Player of the Year. The Hilltoppers were a fast-paced, run-and-gun basketball team which typically averaged 100 points per game and was a perennial fixture in the NCAA Division II top 10.
