DENISON, Tex. (KXII) – Grayson College’s first day of the spring semester was met with a threat to their cyber security.
All technical systems for the college were shut down Monday when the threat was detected.
“It’s affected a number of our systems. We believe that we’re getting through that and the systems are starting to come back online,” said Grayson College President Dr. Jeremy McMillen.
McMillen said a large part of the systems that were affected were voluntarily taken offline by the college.
Grayson College police are working closely with IT and an independent computer security firm to investigate. They believe personal information wasn’t compromised.
“I think it’s really critical for people to know that currently we believe that their personal information is safe,” McMillen said.
Luckily, students access in-person and online courses through a tool called “Canvas.”
