Tragedy hit Vanderburg Elementary School in Henderson, this week.
On Friday, a letter was sent to parents regarding the death of one of its students.
The letter stated in par “it is never easy to lose a valuable life, especially at such a young age. We will always remember this student as part of our school family.”
The death notification comes soon after the school sent out a separate notice telling parents it had been sanitized because of flu-like illnesses on the rise.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed widespread flu in 47 states including Nevada. Here in Clark County, 13 deaths have been reported
School officials say sanitation crews went through the school on Thursday going over desks, chairs, changing air filters and cleaning air systems.
Officials adding support and resources are on hand as students and staff now begin healing from the loss.
