Retail outlets, bookstores reopen today; COVID-19 regulations updated – Loop News Trinidad and Tobago

As the third phase of Government’s five-stage reopening of T&T’s economy comes into effect today, the Ministry of Communications has released an updated public health ordinance.

The Public Health [2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-Ncov)] (No. 16) Regulations, 2020 reflects the associated changes.

The new regulations take effect from today, and remain in effect until June 26, 2020.

The third phase of relaxed COVID-19 restrictions was announced by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Saturday. This phase includes:

The reopening of the public sector, all retail establishments, malls, professional services and bookstores.

The resumption of operations by the National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB).

The expansion of Caribbean Airlines (CAL) services between Trinidad and Tobago.

Hotels permitted to facilitate outdoor dining services.

Public gatherings to remain at five, while public transport will continue to operate at 50 percent capacity.
