Coronavirus Map: Tracking the Spread of the Outbreak – The New York Times


The coronavirus outbreak has sickened more than 71,300 people in Asia, according to statements from health officials. Many other cases are suspected but not confirmed. As of Monday morning, at least 1,775 people have died, all but five in mainland China.

Sources: The Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University; National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China; local governments. Japan’s count includes 454 cases on a cruise ship quarantined in Yokohama. Data as of 4:00 a.m. E.T., Feb. 17.

As these maps show, the disease has been detected in at least 25 other countries, most involving people who traveled from China.

Fifteen cases have been confirmed in the United States, including a 35-year-old man in Washington state, a couple in their 60s in Chicago and eight people in California.
