Anastasia Baptist Church, known for its outreach programs throughout the area and beyond, came to the rescue of one of its own. When church member Teresa Toler was told at Mayo Clinic that she needs not a single, but a double lung transplant, members of the island church came to her rescue, not only with prayers, but also financially. Although insurance should pay a bulk of the cost for the surgery, there is an estimated one hundred twenty five thousand dollars in additional expenses that she and husband Wynne didn’t have.
Last week, the Rev. Walter West, announced to the congregation that church members have contributed the entire amount to the “Love the Tolers” fund. The couple, who have been active members of the church for many years, will soon be able to move ahead with Teresa’s surgery, after some medical goals are reached, and with less worry about the financial problem.
“I am grateful to share that the Anastasia Church family has contributed the entire $125K estimated to be the overall out-of-pocket medical and follow-up care expenses for Teresa Toler,” Rev. West announced.
