Brandt Snedeker says golf is a sport that can be played while following social distancing guidelines.
PGA Tour player Brandt Snedeker said it makes sense for golf to be among the first pro sports to resume because it can be played while following social distancing guidelines.
Snedeker, a Nashville resident, will participate starting June 11 at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, when the PGA Tour starts again.
The PGA Tour was suspended in March because of the pandemic, and 11 tournaments had been played in 2020. Eleven tournaments have since been canceled.
The Charles Schwab Challenge originally was scheduled for May 21-24.
“I think everybody’s ready for it,” Snedeker said. “Obviously, our way of life has probably changed going forward, but we need to see some semblance of normalcy and I think golf can do that really well.”
Fans will not be allowed to attend the first four tournaments, and players, caddies and others at the events will be encouraged to practice social distancing.
