The 7.5 acres at 410 East Drive in Marshall was once home to a State Farm Insurance regional center.
Since the center’s demolition in 2018, the property has stood empty.
Now, the Calhoun County Land Bank Authority has a new vision for the land.
The land bank is seeking someone who will develop it into a housing complex with cottage-style homes or duplexes.
Krista Trout-Edwards, executive director of the Calhoun County Land Bank Authority, said the county conducted studies that found many residents in Calhoun County are interested in housing options that aren’t currently available in Marshall.
“We found that [duplexes and cottage-style homes] were a little missing from Marshall,” she said. “There are a lot of single-family homes, which are larger homes, so there’s a demand for different types of neighborhoods.”
The land bank is accepting Request for Qualifications from developers interested in the property. Responses are due March 27.
